“FINDING OUT ABOUT CHRIST”

wp965f1331.gif

WE ARE ALL TEMPTED to go with the crowd. We do not like to be different. We may think that the majority cannot be wrong, even when it is obvious that they are making disastrous mistakes in their personal lives.

When it comes to our eternal salvation we should consider the everlasting consequences of choosing the wrong path. Jesus said that the way that leads to eternal ruin is wide, and many are going down it. If the way some people live results in chaos now, what must be their eternal outcome?

No one is more qualified to speak about Hell and eternal ruin than Jesus. Firstly, because of His superior knowledge of the spiritual world, having come from it. Secondly, because no one can accuse Him of undue harshness when He displayed such tenderness towards others, and especially to returning sinners.

Jesus promised His disciples that He would not leave them orphans when He returned to Heaven. He would send the Holy Spirit to be their “Helper”. The Holy Spirit is God, just as Jesus is God.

SUMMARY: The house built on earth collapsed in ruin as a result of the storms. The one built on rock stood firm. There is eternal ruin and disaster for those who disregard the ministry and teaching of Jesus Christ. Jesus was referring to eternal punishment: something that He spoke about more than any other.

When the good news of salvation in Christ was first preached at Jerusalem the people did not know how to respond. They asked, “What should we do?” In reply, they were told to repent and show their faith in Christ by public baptism. Then they would receive the promised help of God’s Holy Spirit.

The Spirit is a gift that is given to every person who turns to Christ for salvation. Every true believer in Christ is given God’s Holy Spirit to help him. His presence assures them of eternal salvation.
