GOD HAS GIVEN TO JESUS THE HONOUR of judging mankind on the day He returns to this world. This is something we would normally expect God Himself to do, and tells us something about Christ that we shall consider later.

Although Jesus Christ will be fair in His judgment, no one should expect to be acquitted on the grounds of their own righteousness. This is impossible as God originally made us perfect, and only perfection can satisfy a pure and holy God. But, acquittal on the grounds of Christ’s death (Study Four) is certainly possible.

Jesus’ teaching on the rebirth is important. No one can be accepted by God until they have known this life-changing inner experience. By nature we are blind and slaves to our sinful desires. When we are “born again” we can “see” spiritual truth and want to do the things that please God.

SUMMARY: Jesus Christ is going to return to this world again. On that day every person who has ever lived will appear before Christ.

God has given Him the supreme honour of being the world’s judge. Jesus is suitably qualified for this high position as He is the only person who has never sinned in either thought, word or deed (see next study). Jesus is therefore the perfect judge.

There will be no miscarriages of justice when Jesus returns to this world. He will sit on His judgment seat and perfectly judge between the saved and the unsaved. Then He will gather the sheep, for whom He died, to Himself.

Finally, note the teaching of Jesus on the rebirth. We need a radical change of direction to please God, and only God’s Spirit can give it. This is not the doctrine of reincarnation found in some eastern religions.
