STUDY COURSES ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
Shy or Remote?
Some people feel threatened by group studies and would prefer to study at home and submit questions for answer by post. Others simply live too far away, perhaps abroad, to come to a group study. Missionaries in rural areas could advertise the studies as a correspondence course and so could churches in their local press.
How to Begin
Prepare suitable leaflets for distribution. If you want to preview a basic example RIGHT CLICK HERE and choose “Save Target As” or “Save Link As”, then open the file with Acrobat Reader. It will download in under a minute. If you want printed copies you must set your printer to print on A5 sheets. You may need to trim the margins after printing.
Explaining the Procedure
Explain, either personally (if possible) or by letter, how the student should complete the course - see Group Studies. Include with your letter the first study, “Who Is Jesus Christ?”, together with a large stamped envelope addressed to yourself. Ask students to send the completed study to you for checking, and encourage them to ask questions based on it. Promise to return the study with answers to their questions.
The Ongoing Process
When you return the study with your answers, be sure to send the next study and another stamped envelope. The process should be repeated until all seven studies have been completed. How you proceed from there depends on the student’s response to the last study.
Finally
Keep a record of all those doing the course and the date when you last sent a study. In this way you can gently remind a student when a completed return is overdue. The delay may be due to ill-health or any other factor.
