“FINDING OUT ABOUT CHRIST”

FOStd7p27.gif

CHRISTIANS IN EVERY AGE have faced opposition from their family and from the world. If their loving Saviour suffered, they must expect similar opposition themselves! Jesus told the disciples to prepare for it. But he also encouraged them to expect the ever present help of the Holy Spirit. He would teach them what to say.

Christians would not only get help from the Spirit. They would also get help from their fellow believers. That is why it is so important to join other believers for prayer and Christian fellowship. The new born Christian is like a baby that needs to grow in Christ. He has many trials and temptations to face before he finally reaches Heaven. He must grow as a Christian or he will not be able to face those trials.

The Bible is a Christian’s spiritual food. If you have come to faith in Jesus Christ, through this course, you should study the Bible daily, both at home and with other believers. In this way you will not only begin the Christian Life but finish it!

SUMMARY: The Holy Spirit is a great help because the Christian life is not an easy one. The Spirit helps believers to understand the Bible as He caused it to be written in the first place. The Holy Spirit shows believers the things of Christ. He also helps them to speak to God as dear children, and to pray for the right things.

When the Gospel was first preached, many believed and were baptised. They knew the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives and were bonded by love to their fellow believers. They now belonged to the family of believers and joined the church of the Jesus Christ. This was just the beginning. They now needed to grow as young Christians. So they often met for Christian fellowship, and to hear the Word of God explained.
