“FINDING OUT ABOUT CHRIST”

FO~TAMStd2p7.gif

WE MUST CONCLUDE FROM the many mentions Jesus makes of His death, that He deliberately chose to die. He could have avoided death at any time but chose not to. His arrest and death did not take Jesus by surprise. Nobody took His life from Him, He gave it willingly. This is the greatest of all loves!

All wrong-doing is offensive to a holy God, and He cannot ignore it. God cannot “turn a blind eye” to our sinful behaviour and still be a just judge. This is why there will be a Day of Judgment, when all the world will be judged. There are penalties for disobeying God’s law, just as there are for breaking man’s laws. In a later study we shall see how God Himself has provided, in Jesus Christ, a just solution to His own justice. So making forgiveness possible for every believer.

SUMMARY: Jesus often spoke about His death in both His parables and in the private teaching that He gave His disciples.

He likened Himself to a shepherd that was prepared to give his life for his sheep. He viewed His life as a payment to secure the release of others. Jesus would die that they might live. There will be more about this very important subject in a later study. Meanwhile, consider what follows.

Jesus taught that He would return to judge the world. Earthly judges are not able to judge hidden sins. So God has appointed Jesus to judge the secrets of men’s hearts. He is the only one qualified to do so… see next page.
